Now Guwahati Residents can Give Feedback to GMC's Garbage Collection

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) in its bid to keep the city clean more effectively and efficiently has launched a software on “Public Feedback regarding Garbage Collection of NGOs”. The software was launched by Guwahati Development Department (GDD) Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya.

The public can visit the link https://gmcassam.in/feedback/ to place their feedback on NGO’s regular garbage collection for smooth monitoring of Garbage Collection. Based on public feedback, an inquiry will be done.

In the meantime, six (6) nos of contracts of NGO’s have already been terminated by the GMC on the basis of public feedback on their performances.

GUWAHATI: The locals of Narengi charged a seller of a market near the railway station of selling beef. The meat was being allegedly sold illegally in a chicken shop. In the chaos, the shop owner managed to escape. However, the supplier was caught. The meat was reportedly transported from Hajo and sold in packets to people who came to buy it. The Officer in Charge of Noonmati Police Station, Pabitra Bhuyan, confirmed the incident. "We intervened in the situation upon coming to know about it. Indian Railways rationalizes freight rates for parcel

traffic To facilitate traders to carry small quantities of goods in a faster and more secured way through parcel trains, Indian Railways has decided to rationalize its parcel rates. • For piece-meal Parcel Vans and indented Parcel trains: For piece-meal Parcel Vans and indented Parcel trains, a discount of up to a maximum of 30% (thirty percent), on the applicable scale of charging as per rules, may be granted; provided the utilization of Parcel Vans returning to other Railways after unloading on the Zonal Railway, has been below 40% during the previous three (03) months. •For space in SLRs/Brake-vans of passenger-carrying trains: For SLRs/Brake-vans of passenger-carrying trains, a train specific discount of up to a maximum of 30% (thirty percent), on the applicable scale of charging as per rules, may be granted subject to the following conditions: a)The utilization of SLRs/Brake-vans of such trains has been below 40% during the previous three (03) months, and b)No demand...

Guwahati to Have its Own IPL Team?

GUWAHATI: Cricket fans in the Northeast may get to witness the first Indian Premier League (IPL) team of the region.  The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) is mulling for a Guwahati-based team in the upcoming season of IPL. This was confirmed to G Plus by Devajit Lon Saikia, Secretary of ACA. He further added that the proposal will be discussed in the forthcoming meeting with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The move comes after the IPL authorities have planned for the league's expansion with more teams. As per reports, Ahmedabad might be the new addition to the league.
